The aim of the mission is the general design of the new Regional Social Campus of Thiès and the construction of the 7 buildings that compose it: 4 residential buildings for students, a restaurant-cafeteria building, an administrative building and a health centre. There is also a sports area with outdoor tracks.
The campus proposal recreates a university town adapted and focused on pedestrian relations and the comfort of public spaces.
This approach also includes sustainable development concepts that favour the creation of microclimates, in particular through plantation management, lattices for ventilation, use of Canadian wells, and open architecture with cool and shaded spaces. The architecture uses ceramic material, required by the client, with lattices and shaded spaces, seeking climatic comfort while also giving privacy to the views, with room openings facing inward.
The project was halted by COVID and resumed in 2022, with modifications and new buildings using a more classic and simple typology, also used in other student residence projects in Diamniadio.
