Belize STEAM — WE Architects
WE was created in 2009 by a group of expert architects in the fields of urban planning, architecture and sustainable development. WE currently has offices in Barcelona, San Sebastian (Spain) and Port-au-Prince (Haiti). WE has a wide international experience in cooperation and urban development projects, architecture and construction supervision and has been recognized with prices of international stature.
WE develops its activity in complex and multidisciplinary projects, in operational urbanism, heritage, natural spaces, education, among others, adapting to the context needs and their inhabitants. In its projects, WE always seeks to have a positive impact on the most disadvantaged people, collaborating with entities such as the IDB, ARC, WB, GRET, JPHRO, PADF in countries of the Caribbean, Central America and Africa.
At WE, we are dynamic, optimistic, and always willing to go wherever it is necessary to develop our work and fulfill our goal: to improve people’s quality of life. To do this we travel, we see, we observe, we speak, we recognize, we communicate, to better understand the needs of society and to contribute our experience for the development of basic, functional and simple solutions, adapted to the place where they are to be implemented.

The aim of the project is to design a Laboratory School to foster innovation in vocational and technical Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics (STEAM).
The conceptual architectural design of the school responds to the pedagogical and educational needs identified by the MIT team, in charge of designing the curriculum.
Located in a university campus, the STEAM school will include two buildings to be retrofitted and a new building to accommodate all the spaces needed. The conceptual design pays special attention to the innovative STEAM educational approach, context aware and sustainable design, following the EDGE certification guidelines.
