As part of the strategy of Panama to increase the touristic interest of the country, several towns were identified as places of high potential, by a study done by ARUP. Boquete, one of the sites, hosts several events of national interest, especially the Flower and Coffee Fair and the Blues and Jazz Festival.
The project in Boquete, aims to improve public spaces and integration of these spaces with each other to create a network of flexible, active and reference spaces and paths in which cultural activities can be developed.
The project entails the preparation of a conceptual urban development plan for Boquete including interventions along the Caldera River and the Avenida Buenos Aires with the aim to improve public spaces and integrate them with each other. The new riverwalk, a footbridge connecting both sides of the river and the reorganization of the Buenos Aires Avenue, seeks to create a network of flexible, active and reference spaces, where cultural activities can take place.
